The horse that won the Kentucky Derby this year was a $9,500 horse, owned by a man who had never had a horse in the race before, and who had to drive for 16 or 17 hours, with a broken foot, just to get his horse to the race.  The odds against this horse winning the race were 50 to 1.  But the horse named Mine that Bird won the race anyway.
What lessons can we learn from the $9,500 horse that beat the multi-million-dollar favorites?

Gandhi said that you must be the change in the world that you want to see.  So, if one of the things that you want to see in the world is people who give you a welcome presence in their hearts, then who is it that you should be in this world?

There are a lot of people, right now, who have been wiped out financially. Some will tell you that they’ve lost everything. But…even if you have lost all of your financial assets…have you really lost everything? Let’s take a look.

Read historically accurate biographies of all of the most successful men and women throughout history, and you will discover that their lives were not just a series of spectacular successes, but also a series of devastating defeats and failures. If you want to be a successful business entrepreneur, or if you want to be really successful at anything in life, you must be willing to risk failure. And sometimes, you will fail. The question is not whether or not you will fail. The important question is: How will you respond to failure when it does occur. Will you recover? Will you deal with yourself gently and forgivingly? Will you get up, dust yourself off, and go again?
