We love helping our clients with Wills, Trusts, Durable Powers of Attorney, and their other Estate Planning needs!
We love to help our clients with estate planning needs, and we're good at it. We've been preparing revocable living trusts for the past 23 years.
In these difficult economic times, those members of the American Middle Class who might actually have any little bit of money left when they die should protect that money for their children. Keep your assets from being eaten up by unnecessary legal fees in the probate court, or in unnecessary litigation, or by federal estate taxes (which may become a bigger issue in the year 2010).
If there is a possibility that you may someday need long-term nursing home care, you may also want to investigate Medi-Cal asset protection planning.
As another part of putting your affairs in order, you might want to ask youself : who is it that you would like to have appointed to take charge of your financial affairs and/or your healthcare decisions, in the event that you become disabled by an accident or a debilitating illness. If you want to have a say in the answer to this question, set up a Durable Power of Attorney for Management of Healthcare Decisions, and an Advanced Healthcare Directive. We feel that Power of Attorney Documents are very important. One of the most gratifying experiences we have in our law office is when the adult children of one of our clients come into our office in a panic, asking us what to do, because mom has had a stroke and can no longer speak for herself. If mom was one of our clients, then most of the time, we are able to tell mom's children that they don't have to worry - that Power of Attorney Documents have been executed, and the children have everything they need to help mom manage her affairs.
In the future, it is our plan to put a series of short video mini-lectures on estate planning and living trusts on this website. Until we get those lectures completed and posted, if you have questions about Wills, Trusts, Powers of Attorney, or other estate planning needs, just call us at 530-889-2777 for a free one-hour consultation on estate planning.
